On temporal homogenization in the numerical simulation of atherosclerotic plaque growth

چکیده
A temporal homogenization approach for the numerical simulation of atherosclerotic plaque growth is extended to fully coupled fluid-structure interaction (FSI) simulations. The results indicate that two-scale yields significantly different compared a simple heuristic averaging, where only stationary long-scale FSI problems are solved, confirming importance incorporating stress variations on small time-scales. In approach, periodic fine-scale problem, which with respect heart beat, has be solved each time step. Even if no exact initial conditions available, periodicity can achieved within 2–3 beats by time-stepping.

Simulation of human atherosclerotic femoral plaque tissue: the influence of plaque material model on numerical results
BACKGROUND Due to the limited number of experimental studies that mechanically characterise human atherosclerotic plaque tissue from the femoral arteries, a recent trend has emerged in current literature whereby one set of material data based on aortic plaque tissue is employed to numerically represent diseased femoral artery tissue. This study aims to generate novel vessel-appropriate material...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
Growth of necrotic cores in atherosclerotic plaque.
Plaques are fatty deposits that grow mainly in arteries and develop as a result of a chronic inflammatory response. Plaques are characterized as 'vulnerable' when they have large internal regions of necrosis and are heavily infiltrated by macrophages. The particular composition of a vulnerable plaque renders it susceptible to rupture, which releases thrombogenic agents into the bloodstream and ...
